AI, MCP and API docs

FounderDex data is open to your own tools: a remote MCP server for AI assistants and a small read only HTTP API. Both are free, need no key and share the data of the app and the map.

MCP server

The endpoint is a Streamable HTTP MCP server. It is read only and needs no OAuth or key.

Claude (claude.ai, Claude Desktop and mobile)

Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector, then paste https://founderdex.ai/mcp with no authentication. Enable it in a chat from the tools menu.

Tools

Tool	What it does
`list_layers`	Counts of founder cards per set and of map opportunities per type, with refresh times.
`list_places`	Countries (with ISO codes) and their cities, with record counts, for founders or for map opportunities.
`search_opportunities`	Search fellowships, grants, VCs, angels, accelerators, events, hackathons and more by type, place, bounding box or upcoming dates.
`get_opportunity`	The full public record of one opportunity: description, links, dates, eligibility, check sizes and sources.
`search_founders`	Search founder cards by name, company, set, rarity, HQ country and city, or investor.
`get_founder`	A full founder card: company, title, HQ, investors with sources, round, links and photo attribution.
`ask`	A natural language answer from FounderDex records only, with citations. A few questions per day per client.

HTTP API

JSON over HTTPS at https://founderdex.ai, with CORS open for GET. Responses carry a version v; pass it back to page through one consistent snapshot.

`GET /v1/map/layers`	Every map layer with its count, version and last refresh.
`GET /v1/map/places?types=vc,event`	Countries (English name and ISO code) with their cities and counts, for all layers or the listed ones.
`GET /v1/map/{type}?country=CO&city=Bogota&page=0`	One layer, optionally in one country (ISO code) and city.
`GET /v1/founders?page=0`	Founder cards, 100 per page, highest rarity first.
`GET /v1/founders/search?q=airbnb`	Founder cards matching a name or company.
`GET /v1/founders/{id}`	One founder card with investors, sources and attribution.
`GET /img/f/{id}/{ph}-400.webp`	A founder photo (also `-160`), as referenced by the card.

Limits and fair use

The MCP server allows a few hundred calls per hour per client, and ask a few questions per day. Clients over the limit get a clear error with a retry time.
Please cache responses, send an identifying User-Agent and do not copy the data in bulk. See the Terms.
Credit FounderDex and the original source when you show the data. Photo licenses are listed on each founder card.
Rate limits use a salted hash of your IP address. See the Privacy Policy.
